These are the rules your character must abide by, in their application and in practice.
If you do not follow these rules, your character will be rejected at the application stage; if rules are broken during roleplay, you will be warned, then penalized, and possible banned.
General Rules
1. No godmodding, metagaming, or powerplaying. If you're not sure what these mean, read this.
2. All characters must submit an application and wait for admin approval before being used.
3. You may have a maximum of THREE characters at the start. Eventually we will introduce ways to earn more characters.
4. Regular members may only have ONE canon character, in order to allow other members a chance to have one.
5. Per post, there is a minimum word count requirement of 150 words. This is to ensure that there is always enough in your post to reply to. There is no word maximum, but keep your rp partners in mind! We will not be strictly enforcing this rule, but if we notice that you are repeatedly falling very short, we will bring it up to you. And remember, quality is more important than quantity, so if a 150 word post works very well on its own, don't feel bad for not writing a 500 word post instead.
In addition, for several jobs and activities that offer rewards, the harder your character works (that is, the more you write) the better chance you have of getting a better reward.
6. Your character may only be in one thread at a time.
Canon Character Rules
1. Canon characters may start with THREE Pokémon max, and they may be no higher than level 15 at the start. This is to keep canon characters at the same general level as OCs in the beginning. To add to this, your Pokémon may start out with NO MORE than 50 points of happiness and 25 points of affection. They may not have any TM or HM-learned moves, but they may have ONE egg move.
2. If the character is a gym leader, the Pokémon they use in the gym are NOT the same Pokémon in their party. They may be the same species, but the gym's Pokémon are separate from the character except during gym battles.
3. Try to keep the character as true to their canons selves as possible! It's okay to stray a little from what we know about them, especially if they're not particularly developed in canon, but use what we do know to try and be reasonable and in character.
4. Canon characters do not have to be in their in game locations at all times and may travel, catch Pokémon, and so on as they please - but remember, your character has a job! Gym leaders are responsible for their city as well as their gym, the elite four is responsible for the entire region, Flare members must follow orders based on their rank, and so on. Don't forget about your character's responsibility.
5. If the character does not have a specific job in game, you must give them something to do. It can be anything, as long as it's in character. If you're having trouble deciding, ask an admin, but they cannot just be on a gym run.
Original Character Rules
1. Your character may not have any Pokémon with them at the start. They may have owned Pokémon in the past, but they should have no access to them now.
2. All original characters must receive their starter Pokémon from the lab in Lumiose City. This is also where they will get their Pokégear, trainer ID, and pokédex.
3. Your character must be at least 10 years old, as is the requirement to become a trainer. We highly encourage older trainers, however, to be better suited to all the activities available on the forum. There is no maximum age limit for characters (but the age has to make sense; no 3000 year old characters, please!)
4. Your character must be human. No pokemorphs, gijinkas, wild Pokémon, humans turned into Pokémon, mythical creatures, and so on. They may dress like a Pokémon if they feel so inclined, however.
The admins may add more rules as needed. Members will be informed in case of any changes.
