All battles on this forum are completely stat based. This guide will explain how battles and stats will work.
Calculating Stats
Use this tool for calculating stats.
Simply fill out the information in the tool, and it will tell you what stats your Pokémon should have. Make sure all IV values are set to 31, and only add EVs if you have earned them.
Usually, mods will calculate your Pokémon's stats for you every time you level up or evolve, but if you'd like to use this anyway, it's more than available.
EVs
On this forum, EVs are only gained if your Pokémon is holding an EV-based item. Your Pokémon will gain 1 EV per battle depending on the item they are holding.
A single stat cannot have more than 255 EVs. The total sum of EVs for all stats cannot exceed 510.
Battle Format
A mod will process all battles, including deciding when a wild Pokémon appears.
In a trainer battle, you will write your characters' actions and commands, and your partner will do the same. You may use ONE move at a time. A mod will then process the results of the turn, including whether moves hit or miss, stat changes, and damage then. The process is repeated until a Pokémon faints.
Wild Pokémon battles are a little different. When a wild Pokémon appears, the mod will list the first four moves the Pokémon will use. You can either take advantage of this and give your own Pokémon up to four commands, or you can treat it like a trainer battle and give one command at a time. If you give multiple commands, the mod will process all of them at once, and you will NOT be able to heal or recall your Pokémon in between turns, as you have already given the commands for multiple turns.
Giving multiple commands is very convenient for speeding up wild Pokémon battles, but be careful and keep in mind the consequences!
Battle Calculation
This tool is used for damage calculation.
A probability calculator is used for determining accuracy, status affliction, and critical hits.
The damage calculator does not have Pokémon from Gen V or Gen VI or attacks from these generations, but it DOES have the fairy type available. To compromise, mods will use Pokémon and attacks as similar as possible to the original to ensure that everything is accurate.
Wild Pokémon
Capture success is determined by this tool.
Everything else, including what Pokémon appears, its nature, and whether or not it's shiny, is determined by a random number generator.
Legendary Pokémon cannot be captured.
