Le Trier Sa Vie - Sorting It Out in the Café
After departing the labs of Professor Sycamore, with a new Pokémon in tow, Marie made her way across the street and into this stylish café. The paneling on the walls was exquisite, the tables were classy and understated, the color scheme was to die for—Marie was at home, to say the least. Marie took one of the empty tables near the window, relaxing in the sunlight streaming through the glass. She pulled up her purse and placed it on the table. The little black bag was filled with, essentially, all that Marie had to her name at the moment. She signaled the only server, cleaning the counter at the time, who told her that she had to wait a bit. Marie blinked at the impoliteness, not letting it phase her. She turned back to her purse, and opened it up. Inside was the Pokeball of her new partner Pokémon, Froakie; and a little bag filled with some supplies for the trip. She reached for the Pokeball first.
At first, Marie let herself cradle the little Pokeball in both hands. After a moment, she finally pressed the white button at the center of the sphere. The two lids separated, and a red light shot from the center of the ball and directed itself at the table in front of her. In an instant, it had materialized. The little Froakie crouched on the table. A pince-nez rested at the end of its nostrils, and a collar of bubble stretched around the base of its big blue head. Wide yellow eyes looked up at Marie. She smiled back. "You are absolutely adorable. Hi, Froakie," she cooed. "My name is Marie. I'm your Trainer." It blinked at her, maybe not really comprehending. She felt a tension. She chuckled nervously. "Okay, well... Why don't I name you something? Ah..." She brushed a strand of hair out of her face as she thought. "What about René? It means 'reborn.' Which is somewhat apt, in this situation." It blinked, basically unresponsive. Marie grinned back tightly. "Alright, good talk."
She then remembered that she'd received a few other things, along with René, in that little parcel-bag in her purse. She looked at the purse, then back at the Froakie. "Why don't we see what else the nice man gave us, huh, René?" No response. She remained hopeful, picking up the bag from the table and setting it on her lap. Reaching in, she unwrapped the white paper from the collection of items, and sighed before listing them off."Let's see, five Pokeballs. That's nice of them. Ooh, five Potions; even nicer. A few little foodie things, I wonder what they do. And... A pokédex! My, I thought only children got those. Perhaps things are different in Kalos." She pulled out the thin red square, and slid it open. René looked over at it with interest, the most emotion he'd shown since being released. A little icon of him appeared on the screen of the device, with some vitals and a little color text. Marie read it aloud. "It protects its skin by covering its body in delicate bubbles. Beneath its happy-go-lucky air, it keeps a watchful eye on its surroundings." She looked back at René, who returned her gaze. She scoffed. "Oh, yes. Happy-go-lucky. I see it now." She placed the pokédex back in the purse and called for a server again. I will make this relationship work. We're going to be the best of friends.
