JENSEN OLIVER
The Basics
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Homosexual
Age: 16
Birth Date: April 29
What Do You Look Like?
Appearance: Jensen is a very petite girl; nearly everything about her physical appearance is small. She stands at only five feet and an inch, and weighs an average of one hundred and five pounds. Her build is rather boyish, with broader shoulders than hips and a sort of stocky frame, and her athleticism shows through the lean muscle that covers her body. A tan has begun to darken her skin, but she is still very pale where her clothing usually covers her.Very short, sandy blonde hair covers Jensen’s head, curling at the tips to frame her heart-shaped face. Her eyes are large and dark green, a hint of fire always gleaming in them. On the contrary, her nose and mouth are small, soft, and rounded.
Starter Outfit: Jensen likes to look both cute and sporty. She wears a light blue, short-sleeved sweater that ends a few inches above her navel, with a white camisole underneath that extends only a little further, so a good portion of her midriff is always showing. On her hands, she wears black fingerless gloves made for grip. A floppy black cap rests on her head.
For pants, Jensen wears light blue jean capris, which are cuffed just below her knees. She wears a black studded belt around her waist with clips for pokéballs on the back. Her shoes are black sneakers with electric blue accents, with which she wears white ankle socks.
Who Are You?
Likes: Being alone, battling, junk food, root beer, swimming, cute pokémon, drawing, moneyDislikes: Losing, being told what to do, sitting still, most bugs, being bored, most fruits
Fears: Being forgotten; not having a name for herself
Goals: Become strong, become important
Personality: Jensen is a very stubborn girl, and very hard to deal with. She’s loud and demanding, and wants things her way or else she’ll throw a fit about it. Hotheaded, she’s easy to set off, and she’s prone to risky behavior. If a challenge is presented to her, it’s almost impossible for her to turn it down; regardless of how difficult it is, she’ll do it just to prove she can, especially if someone told her she couldn’t. That being said, she hates being told what to do, and is much less likely to do something if given an order or otherwise strong suggestion.
Desperate to make a name for herself, Jensen could easily be seen as attention seeking. She wants to prove she can do difficult things so that people recognize her skill and talk about it. Honestly, she doesn’t care whether the attention she gets is positive or negative; she just wants people to know who she is, and to leave her mark on the world somehow. The idea of dying and being forgotten with no one telling her story afterward scares her, and she is determined to avoid this fate. She’ll make herself known, no matter what it takes, and no matter what kind of reputation it gets her.
Despite this, Jensen does not really like socializing with people. Yes, she wants them to know who she is, but she doesn’t really want to talk to them, let alone be friends with them. When she needs to be social, she is often overly blunt and quickly loses her train of thought, which leads to awkward situations and frustrates Jensen. She prefers to be alone, and even when she does have friends, she tends to spend more time by herself. Jensen is a bit of a loner in this sense, but also a bit lonely.
Where Did You Come From?
Hometown: Cyllage City, KalosFamily: She was somewhat close to her parents, and got along with her younger brother, but none of these relationships were especially meaningful- just averagely decent.
Background: Jensen lived a pretty average childhood in Cyllage City. She got along with her family and didn’t really have any unusual troubles. One of her favorite things to do was play sports, and she was one of the best athletes of the other kids her age. In school, she was a bit above average, but not much. Overall, there was nothing particularly noteworthy about how she grew up.
The biggest impact on Jensen came from the books she read as a child. Jensen read a lot of stories full of fantasy and heroes, with nobodies becoming celebrities and achieving amazing things after coming from rock bottom. Rather than being a fun, temporarily getaway for her, Jensen was inspired by these books to become a hero herself, and do great things, and most of all, be noticed for them.
Her pokémon journey did not start as soon as it could have, though. Jensen was not quite ready to leave school when she was ten, as she enjoyed it and learning, as well as the sports teams she played for with the school. So, she held off on leaving home for a few extra years until she had finished school.
By then, her desire to become something great had grown to an unbearable point. It tore at her from inside and screamed in her mind, urging her to find a way to get big. Save the world, invent something incredible, discover something- Jensen didn’t know what she wanted to do, she just knew it had to be big. And at this point, it didn’t even have to be a benevolent act. As long as she was recognized on a large scale for what she did, she thought this would be satisfying for her. She was desperate.
So she left for Lumiose City, with daydreams and fantasies of heroism and adventure at the front of her mind.
Behind The Scenes
Your name: Sparx
RP experience: 10 Years
RP example: Much to Cyrus’ relief, Kazu said that he had declined Blake’s offer of alliance. And of course he did! Who in their right mind would form an alliance with Blake, unless they really didn’t know who he was? And even then, it was pretty obvious that Blake was not a good ally. He looked slimy; Cyrus should have known better all of those years ago that Blake was not a man to be trusted. Like Kazu said, Blake would betray anyone who was stupid enough to join league with him.
“Getting tangled up in his shit was the stupidest thing I’ve ever done in my life,” Cyrus groaned. “What was I thinking? I can’t even say I was young and stupid, ‘cause I wasn’t stupid, well, I was, but I was supposed to be one of the smartest guys around… Well, smart, yes, as in intelligent, I guess I just had no common sense. And now I’m gonna suffer for it. I know he’s going to want to try and get me back. His pal, that Sebastian guy- he wants me to meet with him. And if I don’t show up, they’ll probably come lookin’ for me, so I don’t know what I’m going to do about that.” He sighed, scratching his head.
After he burned his tongue, Kazu offered Cyrus a packet of sugar and said that it would help make his burn feel better. An old wives tale, he said. Well, it was worth a shot; his tongue really hurt now, after all. Cyrus nodded and took the packet, ripping the edge off and pouring the contents onto his burn. He let it sit for a minute, and soon the stinging sensation began to ebb. Cyrus smiled.
“That’s much better, thanks,” he said, swallowing the sugar. “I really oughta be more careful, huh, haha, I guess I still don’t really have much common sense, do I? I spent all my skill points on intelligence instead of good judgment. I could use a reroll so I can get a better balance, haha…” Cyrus trailed off as he realized what a nerdy reference he had just made. He flushed bright red again and covered it up by taking a more careful sip of tea and another bite of one of his pastries.
James really couldn’t read, huh? Wow. Cyrus felt like an idiot for not having noticed at all while he was teaching the kid. Kazu asked for some tips on how to keep the kid’s attention. “Well, I’d imagine he’s just in a rebellious streak right now, considering he’s apart from his father for the first time,” Cyrus mused, thinking. “I never really had to fight to get him to pay attention, but I’m sure he was probably being threatened or something. Ah… I would just recommend relating it to his interests, whatever those are? Convince him that it’s worth his time based on what he wants to do instead of learn. That might help.”
Kazu was extremely happy to learn that Cyrus was willing to help him look for Brianna, and even offered the chess set as payment. Cyrus grinned; he really liked the sound of that, even though the challenge of finding the girl was payment enough. Challenges were rewarding in their own right, and Cyrus certainly wasn’t getting enough of them anymore.
“I’d be more than happy to help you, payment or no,” he said, smiling. “It’ll be fun. You’ll be with her again in no time, I guarantee.”
It was his turn to move his pieces again, so he grew quiet as he studied the board. It was too early in the game for anything too tricky, but every move deserved careful consideration. It was always important to plan ahead, after all, and Cyrus was no slacker when it came to planning. The clock was ticking, though, and he didn’t have a lot of time before his turn was over. The gears in his head worked in overdrive, calculating possibilities like he was born specifically to decide chess play. He read every piece, everywhere they could go, and how that would affect his later turns.
Finally, in the final seconds of his turn, he moved his piece and reset the timer.
“It’s too bad the real world isn’t as simple as chess,” Cyrus sighed, resting his chin in his hand. “Though I guess then I wouldn’t have as much fun with it. If you can consider trying not to get killed fun.” He smiled wryly. “I am going to get myself killed someday, aren’t I? I can’t help it, though. As much as I whine and complain and freak out, I always go after the challenges. I’m not a strong man, but this sort of risky life is just exciting, y’know? And I can’t stand boredom. I must be crazy!” He laughed, and waited for Kazu to take his turn.
