It had taken him long enough.
Even with the aid of a map, Brendan Dubois had failed to locate the Pokémon Lab among the broad and busy streets of Lumiose City for at least two hours. Many roads lead him to dead ends and frustrated cursing before he would turn back around and plunge back into the open, where the afternoon sun pounded down on him amidst the cool crisp wind weaving in between buildings. Such a place reminded him heavily of Castelia City--only that Castelia was less bilingual and much easier for him to navigate.
When he came across the grand building at last, he stopped to scream an exasperated, triumphant, "Hell yes!" before charging towards the doorway, using his shoulder to push through the doors and barge inside. He glanced around, wondering how his sister had felt when she first stepped into this overwhelming building a month ago; surely she would have paid better attention to the glistening architecture, the gleaming polished floors, and the frequent but hushed sounds of research at large, but at this moment, all that was on Brendan's mind was the prospect of getting his very own Pokémon. He'd seen them everywhere and had always wanted one of his own. Now this fantasy would finally be realized.
Without even waiting for a researcher to greet him, he took off towards the back table, where a row of brand new Poké Balls awaited him. Greedily, he eyed each one with an eager grin, then moved to pick one up at random.
